Course description

It is becoming increasingly obvious that humanity needs a new story of self. We need to redefine our sense of purpose and place on this planet at an unprecedented scale. Fortunately, humans are excellent storytellers and our capacity to enact the world around us is immense. The language we use to tell that story and the maps we have to navigate its emergence are critically important and must be able to hold and engage with the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous context of our reality.

The Integral Project Design for Social Transformation course will provide you with the necessary language, maps, and tools to be able to rise to meet this moment with clarity, connection, and confidence.

Whether you already have a project you’re working on, but are unsure what to do next, or you simply feel called to show up more fully for those around you, this course will meet you where you are at.

By the end of the course you will have gained:

  • A greater understanding of the basic concepts of Integral Theory and why they are relevant for addressing the “wicked problems” facing humanity today
  • The ability to turn your idea into an integrally-designed and actionable project
  • A more comprehensive understanding of the context of your work
  • A greater awareness of your own meaning-making patterns
  • An increased capacity to communicate with your team and your community
  • A new story of how you are, and will be, participating in transforming your society
  • A clear action plan detailing your next steps towards your transformative vision

This is an 8-week course kicking-off on Saturday, October 17th at 10AM Pacific Time with a live community call.

Important: the term “project” is not limited to community/international development work. The knowledge and skills taught in this course are relevant for any type of project, including ones related to designing your own social business.

This course is a collaboration between Integral Without Borders and the Colombia Integral Center.

I recommend it wholeheartedly!

by Andrés Malavé
Thanks to this course, I was able to consolidate the disparate information I had regarding Integral Theory, into something I can at least explain very briefly, to others who are curious. Perhaps the greatest take away was how our interior drives our exterior. How we feel generates behaviour. Until Integral theory, for me that was only obvious if you spoke to psychologists, religious people, then to marketers, or physicians; then took the time to examine the relationships. The integral model allows for the "irrational" to become part of the focus, instead of relegating it to "beliefs", "religion" or "culture". This combination then gives a powerful lever for sustainable change because we are looking at the "Bigger" picture, instead of just one part, such as climate change, crime, unemployment, economic inequality, immigration, etc. This course gives hope that understanding complexity and being in a position to offer solutions is available to the lay person, you and me not only those "best and brightest". The methodology of bite size videos that complement the reading then regular discussions enables the participant to stay tuned and stimulated. And the team is there to support everyone. I recommend it wholeheartedly!!!

Thoughtful, informative, and accessible

I highly recommend this course

by Gary Huffaker
While pretty deeply involved in integral theory for the past twelve years, this course offered new possibilities: It fulfilled my need to have a practical guide to using the theory to actually engage in project development. By making quite a few mistakes, I was able to learn a lot about implementing an actual project using sophisticated integral mapping. I very much enjoyed the material, the course leaders, and the other participants. I feel that the relationships nourished here will be ongoing and am thankful for the Virtual Cafes which will continue every other week. Finally, much as one feels after reading a good book, I have a sense of sadness that the course is now completed! In a very few weeks, a we-space has been created that is deep and sustaining. I recommend the course highly and look forward to getting acquainted with new graduates of this program in the future as well as maintaining my friendships developed during this course.
